Gremio are set to offload former Liverpool and Valencia defender Fabio Aurelio, the Brazilian club has revealed.
The 33-year-old has been told he is no longer a part of the Brazilian outfit's plans under new coach Renato Gaucho, reports Xinhua.
Gremio's executive director Rui Costa said Wednesday the club hopes to sell Aurelio before the winter transfer window closes July 20.
"He is no longer a part of the group due to a decision by the football department," said Rui Costa.
Aurelio underwent surgery last July to repair a torn ligament in his right knee suffered during a training exercise just days after signing with the Porto Alegre club. He has managed just five games since regaining full fitness in March.
Gaucho returned for his second stint in charge of Gremio Monday after the sacking of former Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
