Gremio will wait until next month before deciding whether to pursue a permanent deal for Uruguay international midfielder Cristian Rodriguez, the Brazilian club has said.
Rodriguez joined the Porto Alegre outfit on loan from Atletico Madrid in March, reports Xinhua.
The deal expires on June 30, but Rodriguez's likely inclusion in Uruguay's Copa America squad means the 29-year-old may only play four more matches for the club.
"He is a player who was in Europe and plays regularly for the Uruguayan national team but we are not going to speak about that (a new contract) now," Gremio president Romildo Bolzan said on Friday.
The Copa America will be played in Chile from June 11 to July 4.
Rodriguez was signed by Spanish side Atletico Madrid from Porto in 2012 and made 59 appearances for the Spanish club before being loaned to Parma in January.
He departed from there within weeks of his arrival amid reports the Italian club did not have the cash to pay wages.
