German Nico Hulkenberg of team Force India came second ahead of Ferrari's Finn Kimi Raikkonen here on Friday, reports Efe.
Australian Daniel Ricciardo in his Red Bull finished fourth.
Fernando Alonso of team McLaren had some problems with his car and finished in the seventh place.
Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz spent most of the session in the garage because of problems with the fuel tank and failed to record a timed lap.
The first practice session saw some rain and lots of tire changes.
