The Haryana government Saturday said that it has directed builders and colonizers to get the sale deeds or conveyance deeds registered within 20 days failing to which penal action against them will be initiated in accordance with the provisions of law.
The order has been conveyed to 575 builders and colonizer licencees, who have been asked to get the sale deeds registered in favour of the respective plot, flat, shop and space holders from whom registration charges stand collected, said a spokesperson of the town and country planning department.
"A number of complaints have been received at the chief minister's window and also to the department from allottees alleging that colonizers have collected a huge amount from the allottees on account of registration charges or stamp duty for executing sale deeds of the plot, flat, shops and office space in their favour, but said sale deeds or conveyance deeds have not been registered till date.
"Moreover, the amount so collected has been retained by them in an illegal manner and were using it for their benefit. In cases, where it is not possible to register the documents, the stamp duty so collected should immediately be returned with interest," he said.
After complying with these directions, they would also submit detailed information of cases where sale deeds were executed and where documents were not registered in a prescribed format within 30 days, he added.
