Haryana to create logistics hub at Bawal

The Haryana government Wednesday announced that an Integrated Multi-Modal Logistic Hub (IMLH) would be developed at Bawal in the southern part of the state.

To be developed in an area of 1,200 acres at Industrial Model Township-Bawal, the IMLH will be part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, a state government spokesman said here.

Bawal, 70 km from Gurgaon, is being developed as an industrial belt along the Delhi-Jaipur national highway (NH-8).

The state government also decided to expand IMT-Bawal by another 2,400 acres.

"The projects will provide a major boost to the GDP growth of the state and prove to be a driver for future growth in the southern Haryana region," the spokesman said.

The projects were approved at a meeting of the Haryana Infrastructure Development Board (HIDB) which met here. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar chaired the meeting.

"For the purpose of funding the acquisition of 1,200 acres land, the HIDB took a decision for equity investment amounting to Rs.900 crore for the project," the spokesman said.

The IMLH would be developed in Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode in collaboration with Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) and is likely to be operational in the next two to three years time, the spokesman added.

It will have an EXIM container yard, domestic container yard, warehousing, auto zone and commercial zone. 75 per cent of the total container traffic estimated will be for export-import from the IMLH.
