The Haryana government announced on Monday that student union elections in universities and colleges will be held this year.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that student union elections will be conducted in the academic session 2018-19 by September this year.
Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister Bhupinder said that the Chief Minister has taken this decision in view of the promise of the state government made in the election manifesto of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The decision was taken following meetings and discussions held on this subject with different student organizations in the past, he added.
