The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued notice to app-based taxi service provider Ola on a plea filed by its rival Uber accusing the former of creating fake Uber accounts, making bookings and then cancelling it.
Justice Vipin Sanghi asked Ola to filed response within two weeks and posted the matter for September 14.
Uber alleged that its rival is trying to hurt its business by fake bookings which has resulted in the loss of business for the company. Four lakh cancellations across the country and drivers registered with Uber leaving its platform is disrupting its business, said Uber.
Uber alleged that Ola's employees are creating fake accounts which have been used to book and make cancellations on Uber's platform leading to loss of revenue to the company.
During the hearing, advocate Rajiv Nayar appearing for Uber told the court: "Large number of fake accounts are being created by Ola which are then used to make false bookings and cancellations using our application. This keeps our drivers busy and we have to bear the cancellation charges."
He added that the alleged practice of fake bookings have been primarily in Pune, Bengaluru and Delhi.
Ola Cabs however told the court th at it has not been involved in any such practice and "allegations Uber are frivolous and false".
