Heat wave conditions continued to affect normal life in the desert state of Rajasthan.
Though light rainfall on Monday evening in parts of the state did bring temperatures down moderately but mercury was still hovering between 40-44 degrees Celsius in majority of parts of the state. The minimum temperature has too been above normal in the state.
The highest maximum temperature - 43.7 degrees Celsius - was recorded in Churu, and was almost 3 degrees above the average. Even the minimum temperature - recorded at 28.8 degrees Celsius - was 5 degrees above normal.
Jaipur was also hot at 41.7 degrees, two notches above the average, while the minimum was 29.5 degrees, five notches above average.
Kota was sizzling at 43 degrees, Sriganganagar at 41.9 and Bikaner at 41.8 degrees Celsius.
Barmer reported 41.6 degrees, Udaipur 40 while desert town of Jaisalmer was hot at 41.1 degree Celsius.
The weather department said the temperatures are likely to hover around these levels in the next 24 hours.
"Light rain or thunder storm is likely to occur at isolated places in the state in next 24 hours and temperatures are likely to be around present levels," a meteorological department official told IANS.
