A number of flights and trains were either cancelled, diverted or delayed due to a thick blanket of fog that enveloped many areas in and around the national capital on Friday.
The dense fog reduced the visibility considerably and it was below 50 metres at 8.30 a.m., officials said.
Three Air India domestic flights were cancelled. Another 10 -- both domestic and international -- flights bound for Delhi were diverted due to low visibility, an Indira Gandhi International Airport official told IANS.
Besides, 24 trains were cancelled, while 19 of them were running late and one was rescheduled due to the fog, sources said.
General traffic in the national capital, however, remained unaffected as vehicular movement on the roads was reported to be smooth.
According to Delhi Traffic Police Helpline, only the Naraina flyover to Dhaula Kuan stretch witnessed slow traffic movement.
The Met department officials had predicted a partly cloudy sky throughout the day with the maximum temperature going up to 24 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature, in the morning, was recorded at 12.06 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average.
