German driver Nick Heidfeld has replaced India's Karun Chandhok at Mahindra Racing for the 2015-16 season of the electric car racing series -- Formula E.
"We are proud to announce that @NickHeidfeld & @BSenna will pilot the #M2Electro for the 2015/16 #FormulaE season," tweeted Mahindra Racing on Monday after retaining Brazilian Bruno Senna as the other driver.
A former Formula 1 driver, Heidfeld raced for the Venturi Team last season for whom he finished 12th in the drivers' standings with 31 points. He also finished third in last season's Moscow ePrix, his sole podium finish in the first season of Formula E.
"Absolutely thrilled to have @NickHeidfeld join @MahindraRacing for season 2. Looking to a mega year. @anandmahindra," Mahindra Racing team principal Dilbagh Gill tweeted.
Chandhok had a poor inaugural season as he finished 17th in the standings with 18 points. He started the season on an impressive note, finishing fifth and sixth in the Beijing and Putrajaya ePrix, but failed to score points in the next nine races.
The 38-year-old Heidfeld tweeted: "Thank you very much @anandmahindra @MahindraRacing .Hope to make 1 Billion + you happy. Test Starts in 1/2 hour here in Donington."
