The IAS and IPS officers in Haryana will now have to spend two days and one night in any village of the sub-division of their first posting and listen to public grievances, State Chief Secretary D.S. Dhesi said here on Friday.

The move has come in the light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's suggestion made on the 'Civil Services Day', celebrated on April 21.

The chief secretary was speaking at a regional seminar on excellence in training organised by the Central Personnel and Training Department at Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) here.

Dhesi said they would also assess the difference between the present status of available facilities there and that at the time of their appointment.

A total of 15 senior IAS officers have already submitted their tour programmes, he said on the occasion where Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was the chief guest.

Dhesi said Prime Minister Modi had suggested on 'Civil Services Day' that senior officers of civil services should spend one day at the place of their first posting and assess the differences in facilities available at present and those that were available at the time of their posting.

Keeping in view this suggestion, Chief Minister Khattar has directed that IAS and IPS officers would have to visit any village in the sub-division of their first posting and spend two days and one night there.

They would hear and address the grievances of the people, he added.
