IFS officer commits suicide in Delhi

A 42-year-old officer of the Indian Foreign Service committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his home here, police said Monday.

Prabhash Das was found by his driver at his home in Dwarka area of west Delhi Sunday. His family members had gone out.

He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police said no suicide note was recovered. The reason behind the extreme step was yet to be ascertained.

Das, a native of Bihar, is survived by his wife and two sons. He was recently posted at the Indian consulate in Dubai.
