The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) will be hosting the 6th All India Conference of China Studies (AICCS) in collaboration with the New Delhi-based Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) from Dec 12-14.
The theme of the conference is, 'Reforms, Management and Social Transformation'.
AICCS is the flagship event of the ICS and its principal objective is to evoke interest and strengthen research in China and East Asian Studies in India.
It is an initiative to provide a knowledge-sharing platform to the students and bring together experts to discuss the role of economic reforms in bringing economic well being in China and the important lessons it holds for the developing world.
IIM-K director Debashis Chatterjee said that in today's globalized and liberalized economy, India's development agenda is linked to China's growth.
"China is today committed to innovation and experimentation. In this they will find an ally in India. The theme of this can aptly be framed as reforms in social transformation in China. We do hope that many ideas will bloom, many schools of thought contend and find a place in this conference," said Chatterjee.
The keynote speaker is Ashok Kantha, ambassador designate to China.
Those taking part in the event include former diplomats Saurabh Kumar and Kishan Rana besides scholars on Chinese affairs like Manoranjan Mohanty and Alka Acharya.
The conference seeks to cover the economic reforms called 'Socialism with Chinese characteristics' introduced by China in 1978 and its significant impact on contemporary China.
