Chinese companies at this year's 33rd India International Trade Fair hope to do business worth a $1 million in keeping with the country's status as a major exporter.

"We hope to do around a million dollars worth of business this time around in the way of orders," Richard, project manager at Zhejiang Broad International Convention and Exhibition Company and leader of the Chinese exhibitors here, told IANS.

Around twenty companies from China, many of which are Zhejiang province-based, are exhibiting products ranging from power tools and power saving equipments to machine tools, petrol engines, gensets, electric hot bags and eye soothers.

"Around 20 percent of these companies from China are coming back to the IITF this year, after the earlier visit," Richard added.

IITF 2009 had provided the stunning instance of the popularity of Chinese goods, when their exhibitors managed to complete their business targets within the first five days, and left for home much before the end of the two-week period.

Windy Shen of Zhebei Cable Company that markets coaxial cables and cable materials told IANS that the company sells around $3 million worth of goods annually to customers in India.

The Yongkang Kangying company based in Zhejiang, which supplies both petrol and diesel gensets and engines, does business with India worth around $700,000 anually, company representative Jane Yan told IANS.

Rajnish Nayyar, the local representative of Wenli International Trading that supplies machine tools making equipment said the company yearly sold around half a million US dollars of equipment to India.

"Since the rupee has lately been depreciating against the dollar, the imports situation has been affected," said Rachna Rattan director of New Delhi-based Imports from China, which also has an office in China.

The India and China two-way trade is currently at the annual level of around $65 billion.
