Swedish home furnishing retailer Ikea is considering Haryana for its expansion plan in India, the state government said on Monday.

This was indicated by Oscar Stenstorm, secretary in Sweden's ministry of enterprise and innovation, as he called on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, after the investors' road show at the 'Make in India' Centre in Mumbai, a Haryana government spokesman said here.

The international retail chain has 328 stores in various countries.

The spokesman said Poland has evinced keen interest in investing in Haryana in the fields of agriculture, green technology, water treatment and 'waste to energy'.

The offer was made by Poland's First Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Glinski at a meeting with Khattar in Mumbai, the spokesperson said.

Haryana, which surrounds national capital Delhi from three sides, has seen big investment from companies, especially from Japan, in the past four decades. Industrial belts in Gurgaon, Manesar, Daruhera, Bawal, Sonipat and Rohtak areas have seen several industries being set up over the years.
