India on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cambodia to promote parliamentary exchanges in the administrative branch and to jointly promote human resource development "through exchange of experiences, knowledge, expertise and study visits".

The MoU was signed by Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha Shumsher K. Sheriff and Secretary-General of the Cambodian Senate Oum Saith.

A delegation from the Senate of Cambodia led by its Secretary-General is on a visit to India.

"The MoU seeks to promote parliamentary exchanges in administrative branch and to jointly promote human resource development through exchange of experiences, knowledge, expertise and study visits. The greater interaction between the two would help in strengthening of relations between the two countries," an official communique said.

The issue of strengthening cooperation between the Rajya Sabha and the Cambodian Senate was initiated during the visit of Vice President M. Hamid Ansari to Cambodia in September last year.
