After nerve-wracking moments when India appeared set to lose, the visitors ultimately eked out a draw against South Africa on the final day of a pulsating first cricket Test at the New Wanderers Stadium here Sunday.

Chasing 458, the hosts were cruising to victory with Faf du Plessis (134) and AB de Villiers (103) before India claimed the two vaunted scalps to turn the match around in the last hour of the last session and halt South Africa at 450/7 -- eight runs short of a historic victory.
