An Indian-origin student was shot dead during a robbery attempt at a gas station in the US, a media report said.
Nineteen-year-old Arshad Vahora was an employee at the gas station in south suburban Dolton in Illinois. He was pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday, Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Another employee, a 55-year-old man, was also shot and taken to a medical centre in critical condition, said Dolton Police chief Robert M. Collins Jr, adding the business is family-owned and operated and the victims were related, though it was not immediately clear how.
The attempted robbery took place about 11 a.m. and no one was in custody as of Thursday afternoon, Collins said. Investigators are checking for video footage of the shooting.
