Indians dominate in practice match against Leicestershire

The Indians put on an impressive performance on the first day of their first three-day warm-up match against Leicestershire with Shikhar Dhawan, Gautam Gambhir and Cheteshwar Pujara notching up half-centuries at Grace Road here Thursday.

Indians were 333 for four in the first innings at stumps with Ajinkya Rahane batting on 46 and Rohit Sharma on 42.

Opting to bat first, India lost opening batsman Murali Vijay (20) for 46 runs on board but from thereon the batsmen put on a dominating performance.

Dhawan was retired hurt for 60 while Gambhir and Pujara were retired out for 54 and 57 respectively.

Virat Kohli struck 29 before he was castled by pacer Shiv Thakor.

Rahane and Sharma then added 74 runs for their unbeaten for the fifth wicket to take the team to stumps safely without further loss.
