Hours after the Indian cricket board called an emergency meeting of its working committee Sunday, Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla quit, citing the controversy surrounding the Twenty20 tournament, NDTV reported.

Shukla's decision was on expected lines after he had expressed his unwillingness to continue in the next season in the wake of the IPL spot fixing controversy.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shrike resigned Friday night, apparently to put pressure on board chief N. Srinivasan to step down for his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan's alleged involvement in the IPL scandal.

The IPL controversy was triggered off last month with the arrest of three Rajasthan Royals players - S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan - on spot fixing charges. Gurunath is among the 60-odd people arrested in the case.
