Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he believes Tehran and six world powers will "soon" manage to reach a "compromise" in their negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme.

"Compromise should be found," Iran's Press TV cited Putin as saying in the Urals city of Ufa on Friday. "In my opinion, it will be found soon."

Putin further expressed hope that Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council -- Britain, China, France, Russia, the US plus Germany -- would agree on guarantees for a successful accord.

"Not only Iran and talks participants but all of the countries in the region including Arab countries... are interested in this," said Putin, calling for the abolition of all sanctions imposed on Iran.

"We proceed from the fact that all sanctions against Iran should be lifted," added the Russian leader, stressing that all sanctions should be removed "as soon as possible".

"We believe this (imposing bans) is not the way to solve international problems," Putin pointed out.

Putin's comments came after Iranian Foreign Minister and top negotiator Mohammad Javad Zarif said the talks would likely to continue through the weekend.

Asked by Press TV's correspondent in Vienna if a deal could be achieved in couple of days, Zarif responded that he "doubts it".

"We're making progress," he said, adding, however, that, "It seems we are staying here for the weekend."

Meanwhile, the European Council has prolonged until July 13 the suspension of EU restrictions against Iran as agreed in the Joint Plan of Action (JPOA) on November 24, 2013, to allow more time for the ongoing talks in Vienna to yield a result.
