IS threatens Australia in its new magazine

A new Islamic State magazine on Tuesday threatened to carry out attacks at several Australian landmarks.

Rumiyah, published in seven languages has singled out Australia for terrorist attacks, naming in a chilling message the famous Bondi beach in Sydney, the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Melbourne Cricket Ground as their next targets.

In its 38-page first issue, Rumiyah features on its cover a photograph of an alleged IS fighter with a belt of explosives entitled "We will not rest from our jihad until we are under the olive trees of Rome", Efe news reported.

The threat to Australia occurs in an article on an IS militiaman, identified as Abu Mansour al-Muhajir, of Lebanese origin living in Australia, who recently died in the Syrian city of Manbej, fighting alongside extremists.

The article contains a biography of al-Muhajir and calls on those living in Australia to commit attacks in its territory.

IS urges to kill "on the streets of Brunswick, Broadmeadows, Bankstown, Bondi" and even at noted Australian landmarks such as the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Opera House and the Melbourne Cricket Ground, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

"Stab them, shoot them, poison them and run them down with your vehicles," the terrorist organisation advocates.

Minister of Justice Michael Keenan said the new ISIL magazine was a desperate attempt to attract more supporters in the face of 'substantial territory losses and dwindling numbers of foreign fighters', the Daily Mail reported.--IANS
