Israel has expressed a desire to strengthen its relations with India while enhancing partnership in the fields of agriculture, water resources, and homeland security.

Israel's Ambassador Daniel Carmon on Wednesday met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah and "explored the potential" to further enhance partnership between the two countries, a statement said.

Calling on Shah at his residence here, the ambassador briefed him on Israel's activities in India that correspond to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'four colours of revolution' and 'Make in India' campaign.

"Especially in the field of agriculture, water resources, homeland security, (the ambassador) explored the potential to further enhance these partnerships and develop new ones," the statement said.

Shah spoke about the ongoing partnership and the "lively bilateral ties" between the two countries and discussed with the Israeli envoy the ways to "continue strengthening these relations at the highest political levels".

Shah also appreciated the "fast and efficient" response of the Israeli rescue and humanitarian operations in quake-hit Nepal, while Carmon thanked the Indian government for its help in locating and evacuating Israelis tourists stranded in remote mountainous areas.

The ambassador also invited the BJP president to visit Israel.
