The Israeli army said it shot at two Palestinians Friday who approached the Gaza-Israel security fence, slightly wounding one of them.
According to a military announcement, one of the Palestinians ignored calls by the troops to stop and climbed over the fence. He was shot in his leg and taken into military custody while the other turned back to Gaza, Xinhua reported citing the announcement.
On Wednesday, Israel struck Hamas bases in southern Gaza, killing a Hamas militant after a Palestinian sniper seriously injured an Israeli soldier.
It was the second time that Israel has struck Gaza since a devastating 50-day war in the Palestinian enclave ended with a truce Aug 26.
