England skipper Alastair Cook, who led his side to make a remarkable turnaround to win the five-match Test series against India 3-1 despite being 0-1 down in the beginning, called it "an amazing performance".
After drawing the first Test, England lost the second at Lord's and questions were raised at Cook's captaincy. However, he maintained his composure to turn the tables and aid the hosts win the next three matches.
"It was an amazing performance to win like we've won after what happened at Lord's. The players, the staff can take an enormous amount of credit. All summer, before we won at Southampton, we played good cricket in patches and then let it go after an hour or so. To maintain pressure like we did in the last few games was impressive," he said.
Though 0-1 down in the series, England did not look back and went from strength to strength to clinch the next three matches by 266 runs, an innings and 54 runs and an innings and 244 runs respectively.
"It's good to have the support of the guys throughout the tough times and then enjoy the good times. When you score runs, with our bowling attack in these conditions, it's hard for the opposition," added the left handed bat.
"We have to enjoy tonight, look at how we have got things to click and then take it on. In sport, you have tough times, it's the character you need to show to bounce back. The support has been fantastic, from the families as well, means we can go out and play some good cricket."
