Rome, May 26 (IANS/AKI) Police evacuated a high school in the eastern Italian city of Teramo in the Abruzzo region after an anonymous caller said a bomb had been placed inside the building.
All 700 pupils at the Einstein Scientific High School on Thursday were evacuated and the surrounding area was closed to traffic while a police bomb squad and sniffer dogs combed the building but failed to find a device.
In a controlled explosion on Wednesday, police bomb disposal experts blew up a "rudimentary" fake device with no explosives inside that was left on a railway line near Teramo.
The line between Montesilvano and Silvi was closed as a bomb squad examined the white cellophane-wrapped package with electrical wires poking out after it was found on the tracks by rail maintenance workers.
