Kuwait City, Feb 13 (IANS/AKI) Italy's Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano on Tuesday urged nations to invest more in preventing a resurgence of the Islamic State jihadist group by rolling out measures to address its "root causes".
"We need to safeguard our political cohesion and invest more resources to help Iraq and Syria to eliminate any risk of Daesh making a comeback," said Alfano, using the Arabic acronym for IS.
"It's about tackling its root causes," he said.
Alfano's remarks at a meeting of the 74-member US-led global coalition against US taking place in Kuwait City were relayed via the Italian Foreign Ministry's Twitter feed.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Kuwait's Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu were among those attending the anti-IS coalition summit.
