Former Indian ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad will be the new director of of premier government think tank Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses, it was announced on Tuesday.
"Mr Jayant Prasad appointed the new DG of IDSA," tweeted defence ministry spokesperson Sitanshu Kar.
Prasad has also served as India's permanent representative to the Conference on Disarmament, Geneva, ambassador to Algeria, and counsellor for trade access and development cooperation at the Indian Mission to the European Union in Brussels.
He was ambassador to Afghanistan at the time of the 2008 and 2009 attacks on the Indian embassy attacks in Kabul. He was in Kathmandu from August 25, 2011 to August 25, 2013.
