If you want to become member of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India, based in the hometown of India limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, then you have to appear in a written examination.

The JSCA has in a press release asked people interested in becoming member of the association to take a written examination on October 16. JSCA President Amitabh Chaudhary has justified the decision.

"This is an unanimous General Body meeting decision. The idea is to give a chance to the common man of the state in a transparent way," the JSCA President told IANS.

When asked whether the JSCA is the first association to adopt such method to select members, Chaudhary said, "That is not relevant. A medium has been given and made available to the common man."

When asked whether such method would be applied to the existing members, he said, "The General Body is competent to take such decisions."

The JSCA asserted that the move has proved to be quite popular.

"Inundated with numerous frequent and repeated request for membership, the JSCA has decided to conduct a written membership Test on October 16," the JSCA said in a statement.

"The test will comprise of 40 questions. The questions have been divided in five categories -- international and domestic cricket (20 questions), five questions each from international and domestic sports, excluding cricket, India, Jharkhand and general knowledge."

The application form is available at the JSCA Stadium here till September 27. After the examination only 50 new members will be selected.
