Senior Congress leader C.P. Joshi on Friday defeated Ruchir Modi, son of Lalit Modi, by a margin of five votes to become president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
While Joshi bagged 19 votes, Ruchir was able to garner 14 votes in a tough contest. Joshi was a minister in the Manmohan Singh government. This is the second time that Joshi has become RCA president.
Mohd Iqbal was elected vice president and R.S. Nandu secretary of the RCA. Pinkesh Kumar Jain was elected treasurer.
Voting for the RCA elections was held on May 29 and counting of votes was held on Friday after the Rajasthan High Court on May 30 granted permission for counting of votes on Friday.
After winning Joshi said in a tweet, "I thank all the RCA members for their support. We will collectively work to bring glory back to cricket in Rajasthan."
