JSPL Foundation to extend its talent award nationally

The JSPL Foundation, which spearheads the corporate social responsibility activities of the Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL), on Thursday said it will extend its Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman, recognising talent at the grassroots level, nationally.

The award is so far confined to the states of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand.

"We will be taking this award event at the national level and this is our first year," JSPL CSR head Prakash Tewari said here at a roadshow for the award event in West Bengal.

The awardees will be selected based on their courage, commitment and confidence which enabled them in overcoming adversities.

"People who have charted their very own unique identity will be awarded. It will be a source of inspiration for many," said JSPL Foundation president Shallu Jindal.

A total of 20 awards - 10 individual and another 10 organisational - will be presented. Awardees will be given a certificate of appreciation and Rs.1 lakh each.

JSPL has fixed its CSR budget for the current year at Rs.60-70 crore. Last year it was Rs.120 crore and during 2013-14, the firm had spent Rs.250 crore on CSR activities.
