Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will Monday visit Srinagar to assess the damage caused to the roads due to the floods in Jammu and Kashmir and discuss remedial steps, an official statement said Sunday.
"During the visit, Gadkari will make an on-the-spot assessment of the damage to roads as a result of floods, and will discuss remedial steps," a statement from the road transport and highways ministry said.
He will be accompanied by Jitendra Singh, minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The ministers, along with officers concerned, will also undertake an aerial survey of various roads and construction works under progress.
They will hold meetings with officers from the Border Roads Organisation and CPWD.
In his capacity as the union minister of rural development, Gadkari will also hold a meeting with officers to discuss issues related to drinking water, sanitation and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) roads.
Gadkari and Jitendra Singh are also scheduled to meet Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and volunteers and representatives of the organisations involved in the relief and rehabilitation work in Kashmir.
