Top shuttlers Parupalli Kashyap and Saina Nehwal were named the captains of the Indian teams participating in the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals to be held at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here May 18-25.
"I would like to announce that Kashyap and Saina will be the captains of the Indian teams participating in the event," Badminton Association of India (BAI) Akhilesh Das Gupta said a press conference here Wednesday.
This is the first time India is hosting the prestigious biennial event. Starting this year, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) have done away with the qualifiers and the teams have qualified on the basis of the rankings.
The Thomas Cup is the World Men's Team Championship while Uber Cup is the women's version.
