Kejriwal, AAP should list single contribution towards country: Badal

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday dared his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and the entire leadership of his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to list a single contribution for the country in general and for Punjab in particular.

"The AAP is just a party of hollow slogans and false promise. This party neither has any glorious track record nor any achievement for the public welfare or for the service of the country and state.

"It is a matter of record that AAP was just a bunch of opportunists and defectors who have left one party or another to acquire power. So nothing good for the state and its people could be expected from these people, whose sole aim was just to wrest political power in the state," Badal told media during a tour of villages in Muktsar district.

He claimed that Kejriwal was not even aware of the basics of agriculture and village life of Punjab.

"In a state where majority of population resides in the villages, it can't be run by a party whose leaders were not acquainted to the problems faced by the people there. The Delhi Chief Minister and other AAP leadership are ignorant about the basic topography of the state," he said.

"Kejriwal is suffering from anti-Punjab mindset and the stand taken by his government on the issue of Satluj-Yamuna Link Canal in the Supreme Court was a reflection of it," he said, noting that the affidavit by Delhi government termed Punjab's stand on issue as unconstitutional and anti-national.

"As Kejriwal hails from Haryana, so he was naturally inclined towards safeguarding the interests of his state and wanted to snatch the waters of Punjab to benefit his own state," Badal alleged.

Punjab's ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance is facing a tough challenge from the AAP and Congress in the state's assembly polls to be held early next year.
