Over 20 Taliban militants, including a key commander Mullah Nurullah, were killed in clashes with security forces in Afghanistan's Ghazni province on Wednesday, a provincial police official said.
"The security forces launched cleanup operations in Shirwali area of Andar district (in Ghazni province) early on Wednesday morning and till afternoon, 21 militants including their commander Mullah Nurullah had been killed and eight others injured," the official said, according to a Xinhua report.
Mullah Nurullah was a key commander of Taliban in Ghazni and adjoining areas, the police official said, adding that his elimination could be a major setback to the Taliban.
The operations would continue till government control was strengthened there, the official added.
