Barun Maheswari, the prime accused in the September 18 Mercedes hit-and-run case, was arrested here on Wednesday, the city police said.
Maheswari has been shifted to the city police headquarters at Lalbazar for interrogation after his arrest.
The police were searching for Maheswari as his over-speeding car had allegedly hit a scooter on Sunday, killing a youth and injuring two others.
Since the accident, Barun and his family were missing and believed to be on the run.
"Maheswari has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder (IPC Section 304) and rash driving on a public way (IPC Section 279) for Sunday's accident and will be presented before a court on Thursday," police sources said.
