Moldovian sixth seed Radu Albot trounced top ranked James Duckworth of Australia 7-6, 6-1 to lift the Men's Singles title at the Emami Open ATP Challenger at the Bengal Tennis Association complex here Saturday.
After a strong start, Radu committed a number of baseline errors and double faults that pushed the first set to the tie-break. But the 23 year old played well enough to pocket it 7-6.
Continuing his dominance, Radu won the second set 6-1 to wrap up the match pocketing $7,200 and 80 ATP points.
Indian duo of Somdev Devvarman and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan emerged as the champions in the Men's Doubles final encounter after Duckworth was forced to pull out because of illness.
