Leaders from member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our Americas (ALBA) are set to meet next week in Havana to discuss measures for preventing the Ebola epidemic from spreading, media reported Thursday.
Heads of states and governments, high-level representatives of the member countries and international organisations will attend the Extraordinary ALBA Summit, where they are expected to "coordinate regional cooperation" to help prevent the Ebola disease from spreading to the Latin American and the Caribbean region, Xinhua reported citing the Cuba's state-run daily Granma.
Founded in 2004, ALBA consists of Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ecuador and Bolivia.
As of Wednesday, nearly 9,000 Ebola cases have been registered in West Africa, causing 4,484 deaths, according to the WHO statistics.
