The 2014 Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony will take place at the Istana Budaya here March 26.
Laureus World Sports Academy chairman Edwin Moses made the announcement here Friday. The Istana Budaya is the national theatre of Malaysia.
"This is the 15th year of Laureus and I am delighted that the 2014 awards is to be staged in Kuala Lumpur," double Olympic gold medallist Moses said.
Six nominees will be announced in various categories here Feb 26, a month before the ceremony. The categories are: World Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, Team of the Year, Breakthrough of the Year, Comeback of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability and World Action Sportsperson of the Year.
The academy members will vote by secret ballot to decide the winners.
