Indian-origin British businessman Lord Swaraj Paul on Monday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat Nabanna.
"Lord Paul is a senior person and it is a courtesy meet," Banerjee said.
The meeting lasted for almost an hour.
Paul's company Caparo had earlier promised that his firm would consider setting up a plant in Bengal to manufacture a compact sports car for the Indian market.
