Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar was presented with Sophia Award at the Syracuse International Film Festival here.
His movies "Heroine" and "Fashion" were also screened at the fest, which concluded Sunday.
"Honored to have received the SOPHIA award today (Sunday) from Tom Bower at Syaracuse Film Festival, New York! @SYRFILM (sic)," he tweeted.
Bhandarkar, also known for helming films like "Page 3" and "Corporate", is now working on his new project "Calendar Girls" with fresh faces.
The director, who has worked with actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Tabu, has won National Award for films like "Chandni Bar", "Page 3" and "Traffic Signal".
