Major fire in British-era building in Shimla

A devastating fire broke out Saturday night in a heritage building in this town, once the summer capital of the British India, a fire official said.

The building housing the office of Project Deepak of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), an organisation under the defence ministry.

"Three fire-tenders have been pressed into service to douse the blaze," a fire official told IANS.

The building, located in the vicinity of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, was constructed in British times.
