Taking a swipe at the Modi government's scrapping of the Planning Commission, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had conceived the panel.
Similarly, CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said Bose's slogan "Jai Hind" was subverted to "Jio Hind" by the Modi government.
"Netaji had a very clear vision for the country. He conceived the Planning Commission," Banerjee said while speaking at the "Subhas Utsav" commemorating Bose's birth anniversary in Darjeeling.
"Netaji gave us the slogan Jai Hind. The Modi government has subverted that to Jio Hind. But Jai Hind will be reclaimed by us," Yechury said.
