A man was arrested for carrying a rare wild lizard, protected under Indian and international wild life laws, in West Bengal's Siliguri district, forest officials said Friday.

Estimated to fetch a price of Rs.15 crore in the international market, the 40-cm gecko was being smuggled to Bhutan, officials at the Baikanthapur Divisional Forest Office said.

David Lalnunawia, an inhabitant of Champai in Mizoram, was nabbed for carrying the reptile from Pronimandir Road Thursday.
