A man from Bihar who committed a murder in February and then assumed a new identity to run an eatery here has finally been arrested, Delhi Police said on Thursday.
Bharat Yadav was taken into custody on Wednesday from near a Bhairon temple at Pragati Maidan, not far from the Supreme Court, Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said.
Bharat Yadav apparently ran an illicit liquor trade in Bhojpur in Bihar. After his nephew was killed in November 2014, he and his associates murdered a member of the rival gang on February 27, the officer said.
As police announced a reward of Rs.15,000 for his arrest, Bharat Yadav fled Bihar and kept changing his hideouts frequently to evade arrest, said Ravindra Yadav.
Eventually he made it to Delhi where he began running a 'dhaba' in Karol Bagh area. But his luck ran out on Wednesday.
