The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after a case of molestation was lodged against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Prakash Jarwal, saying he must expel his party legislator.
Strongly condemning the incident of molestation of a woman by AAP legislator Jarwal, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari in a statement said: "If Kejriwal has any morality or respect for women, then he should show courage to take action against his party's MLA immediately."
"If any morality is left in Kejriwal, then he should expel Jarwal from the party immediately for a fair inquiry and ensuring justice for the victim," he said.
The BJP leader's remarks came a day after Delhi Police on Thursday filed a case of molestation against Jarwal.
The BJP leader also said that it was not the first incident when Jarwal had been found misbehaving with women.
Last year, Jarwal was accused of misbehaving with and assaulting a woman. The Deoli MLA was arrested for his alleged misbehaviour with the woman.
Taking a dig at AAP legislators, Tiwari, who represents the North East Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha said: "The MLAs accused of corruption, rape, hawala dealings and forgery are the living proof of it. The MLAs and ministers of Kejriwal government are a huge burden on the people of Delhi."
He also stated that the AAP had become a symbol of atrocities against women.
Tiwari then alleged that the persons elected to protect the interests of people had become "blots on the society and the entire humanity".
Slamming Kejriwal, Tiwari said: "Silence of Kejriwal shows that his claims of women's security before elections were hollow."
The BJP leader also expressed surprise that even after the cases of atrocities against women by the AAP MLAs and ministers, the Delhi Commission for Women was completely silent.
