A 19-year-old medical attendant was allegedly taken to a city red light area and gangraped when she was returning from the hospital she is attached to, police said Monday.
In her police complaint, the teenager said she boarded a shuttle car from the private hospital at Rajarhat in the city's northeast fringes to travel to the Bidhan Nagar police station Sunday.
However, she lost consciousness in the car - which had another passenger in addition to the driver, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pallab Kanti Sarkar.
The girl said in the complaint that on gaining consciousness, she found herself in Kolkata's biggest red light district Sonagachi. She alleged that the driver raped her as two other men watched.
Later, the teenager managed to flee, and lodged the complaint at the Cossipore police station.
The alleged victim has been medically examined, said Sarkar.
