A Meghalaya government official had a close shave Monday when Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants fired at his vehicle in South Garo Hills district, police said.
Ashish M. Sangma, project director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in the district, was attacked by rebels of the Reading T. Sangma faction of the GNLA, district police chief Davis R. Marak told IANS.
No one was injured in the attack in Rongdotchi, 380 km from Shillong.
The rebels fired a few rounds and one hit the bumper of Ashish Sangma's car.
A combing operation has been launched to arrest the rebels.
