Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sadness on the death of social worker Poornimaben Pakvasa, the mother of renowned Odissi classical dancer Sonal Mansingh, on Monday.
"Sad to hear about demise of Poornimaben Pakvasa. She was a phenomenal personality who did exceptional work towards educating tribal girls," Modi said in his condolence message.
"Poornimaben led a long life, leaving us at the grand age of 103. Recall my interactions with her whenever I visited Saputara. Spoke to late Poornimaben's daughter, Sonal Mansingh and expressed my deepest condolences," he said.
