Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as "two sides of the same coin", Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday alleged the BJP and the Trinamool Congress have a tacit understanding.

"Modi and Mamata are two sides of the same coin. They are each others' most trusted friend and both show similar traits," Ramesh told media persons here.

"Modi came to power promising maximum governance and minimum government but in reality it is one man governance and maximum arrogance. All other ministers are non-entities. The situation is identical in Bengal much like a mirror image," Ramesh said.

"That's why Modi and Mamata are together," he added, referring to the apparent bonhomie between the Trinamool Congress chief and Modi during his recent visit to the state.

Reacting to union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's clarification that the BJP was opposed to the Trinamool but political opposition should not be confused with constitutional relationship, Ramesh called the BJP leader "the most effective spinner" in Indian politics.

"When Jaitley says that there is no understanding between the Trinamool and the BJP, rest assured it's the opposite. He is the most effective spinner in Indian politics. Jaitley is more than the combined force of finest spinners Indian cricket has ever produced," added Ramesh.

The former union minister also accused the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the multi-crore rupee Saradha scam, of going slow on the matter.
